KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 — Motor Image Malaysia, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, has introduced the all-new sixth-generation Subaru Outback today. Powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine arranged in Subaru’s trademark boxer configuration, the new Outback features a fully revamped chassis from its predecessor as well as enhanced off-road performance with Symmetrical AWD system and X-Mode.

“The new model combines luxury with innovative Subaru technologies that enhance the driving experience, efficiency and safety. We hope this will make the Outback an excellent value statement for customers in the Asian region,” said Glenn Tan, executive director, Tan Chong International Ltd.

The Outback crossover product concept is one that uniquely combines passenger car comfort with the long-distance capabilities and load space of an SUV. While developing the latest generation Outback, Subaru has consistently sought to deliver a crossover with class leading performance, AWD handling capabilities and all round driver and passenger safety.

In appearance, the all-new Outback lives up to its crossover moniker with a bold, rugged body shape, bigger tires and muscular fenders. Besides enhancements to the external look of the vehicle, reduction in wind resistance has been achieved by improving airflow over the rear of the body which also makes a major contribution to reduced fuel consumption at high speeds.

Inside, a top-grade interior includes a dual-dial gauge cluster with a three-dimensional feel and a triple-spoke steering wheel with multifunction switches. Interior materials have been carefully selected to achieve a high level of quality.

In order to improve comfort without compromising handling, the Outback’s monocoque frame has been completely redesigned to improve the dynamic rigidity of the rear suspension.

To give it ammunition off-road the Outback is driven by Subaru’s unique Symmetrical AWD system, enhanced with X-Mode, an electronic control system capable of enhancing driving performance on poor roads through optimised integrated control of engine, four-wheel drive, braking, and other functions on slippery surfaces.

Like every other Subaru vehicle, the Outback has gone through comprehensive testing that conforms to the highest safety levels of Subaru’s philosophy of “All-Around Safety,” which continues to win global accolades with superb Active and Passive safety systems.

In addition to Subaru’s safety technology of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, both the traditional active and passive safety performance have also been enhanced. In the event of an accident, a total of seven airbags provide crash protection to its occupants.

The Outback 2.5i-S is available for booking at all Subaru Showrooms across Malaysia from 29 April 2015 at an on-the-road price of RM224,846.30 with insurance and GST.
