SHAH ALAM, March 5 — Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) announced that the new Elantra Facelift is available at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide today.
The 2015 Elantra is a facelift of the current Elantra, with a total of 14 new improvements and upgrades. The exterior changes are mainly concentrated at the front and back ends, with new front and rear bumpers. As with all facelifts, there is no change to the base platform and main mechanicals. What is changed is a new front bumper with incorporated fog lamps, a new grill design, and new projection headlamps with LED Guide Light. The projection headlamp is available only for the two Premium variants in the 1.6 and 1.8 litre categories only.
The rear bumper and tail light design has also been changed, extending the overall length by 20mm to 4,550mm, but the wheelbase remains the same.
The interior of the car has some new features.
The other upgrades are in the interior of the car, and these include some new features. The air-conditioners have been re-located, and the gear knob design has been changed. The Premium variants get rear air-conditioner vents, MirrorLink Audio Visual Receiver and an upgraded Supervision Cluster with 3.4-inch OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) Display for easy reading. The OLED is purportedly clearer than the conventional dot type display for increased readability and information delivery. The Premium variants also feature Hyundai’s Flex Steer System that allows for three steering modes that are soft for use at parking speeds, medium for normal use, and sporty and heavier feel for high speed driving.
According to Lau Yit Mun, managing director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors, car buyers looking for a new C-segment will be pleased with the new facelifted Elantra. “This new version of the Elantra is complete in every way. Apart from maintaining the great features of the original Elantra, we have fitted additional advanced features into the facelifted model,” said Mr Lau.
The face-lifted Elantra retains the same powerplant as before with a choice of two engines, Nu D-VVT 1.8-litre MPI and Gamma 1.6-litre MPI D-CVVT.
