KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 ― A three-year-old boy slightly injured his ankle when it was stuck in an escalator at a shopping centre here tonight.
KLCC Fire Volunteer Senior Assistant Superintendant (PKPgB) Che Shaari Abdullah said the incident occurred about 7.30pm when the boy and his family were taking the escalator to go down to the second floor, from the third floor, of the shopping centre.
He said it happened when the boy's shoes got stuck at the left side of the moving escalator.
The boy had to bear about 40 minutes of pain while efforts were made to remove his leg from the escalator, he told Bernama here last night.
Che Shaari said 13 firemen from the KLCC and Keramat fire and rescue stations rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 7.39pm.
Firemen had to use the Sprider to prise the escalator to remove the boy's leg, he added.
The boy was then sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment. ― Bernama
