NEW YORK, Aug 19 — The first record contract signed by the Beatles in 1961 is going up for auction next month, Rolling Stone reports.
The contract hails from when the quartet served as Tony Sheridan’s backup band, The Beat Brothers, on the single “My Bonnie”.
It will hit the auction block at Heritage Auctions in New York on September 19, along with other Beatles memorabilia.
The six-page contract was signed prior to the group’s recording session of the track in Hamburg, Germany by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and their drummer at the time, Pete Best.
The estate of Uwe Blaschke, a German graphic designer and Beatles historian who died in 2010, is selling the document.
The “My Bonnie” contract is expected to sell for US$150,000 (RM612,675). — AFP-Relaxnews
