KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 ― Volkswagen Malaysia has introduced a limited-edition VW Jetta that looks much better, but there are only 500 units available, so if you want one, hurry over to any Volkswagen showroom and put your money down before they run out.
I have always thought the Jetta’s wheels were so ‘old school’, and the change-over really makes a big difference, at least to me. On top of that, a subtly classy body kit adds on to its good looks.
The Volkswagen Jetta here in Malaysia is powered by the same 1.4 TSI engine as in the MK 6 Golf, and a 7-speed DSG. Power output is 158 hp and maximum torque is 240Nm. Just to recap, the Jetta makes a zero to 100km sprint in 8.3 seconds, has a top speed or 221 km/h, and boasts of a fuel consumption of 6.0 litres per 100 km (combined cycle, NEDC).
VW offers two versions of the Jetta Limited Edition ― the base Club Edition model comes with tinted windows and a Blaupunkt multimedia navigator head unit over the regular model’s equipment. The good news about this navigation unit is that it comes with Malsing maps, which is very detailed, and it also comes with free lifetime updates.
The costlier Sport Edition, meanwhile, further adds on the Club Edition’s extra kit with a full set of Volkswagen’s Zubehör Aerokit comprising a rear boot spoiler and skirting all round along with 17-inch Silex alloy wheels.
We have kept the best news for last ― with the Jetta Limited Edition, it comes at a lower price than the regular model. The Jetta Club Edition is priced at RM122,888 whilst the Sport Edition goes for RM132,888, both lower than the regular model’s asking price of RM134,888.
