KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — Four people of a family saved themselves from a fire which destroyed their double-storey house in Jalan Negeri Sembilan Selatan, Bukit Persekutuan, here, last night.
Bernama learned that the fire occurred at about 10 pm when they were on the first floor.
Sentul Fire and Rescue commander of operations Zahari Mohamad said 57 firemen in six trucks were rushed there from the Hang Tuah, Sentul, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Seputeh fire stations.
“By the time the firemen reached the house, almost 60 per cent of the house had burnt down as the structure was mainly wooden. Furthermore, the firemen had to obtain water as far away as 500 metres from the house,” he told reporters at the scene.
Zahari said the fire was brought under control 30 minutes later. The victims declined to be interviewed. — Bernama
