KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — A local tour guide has been detained to facilitate investigations into the murder of a Vietnamese tourist whose nude body was found at a hotel in Cheras here early today.
The 23-year-old victim, whom the police declined to identify, was found stabbed to death under the staircase on the first floor of the hotel about 5.30am.
The foreigner, who arrived here last Wednesday, was on a social visit pass.
At the time of his arrest, the 44-year-old suspect, who sustained several injuries on the body, was clad only in his underwear.
The police have seized two knives - believed to be the murder weapons - from the scene of the murder and the hotel room.
Cheras police chief ACP Mohan Singh Tara Singh said both suspect and victim had checked into a room on the fourth floor of the hotel for half a day yesterday.
He said initial investigations revealed that the two men were involved in a quarrel before the Vietnamese was found stabbed to death. — Bernama
