GEORGE TOWN, May 14 — There will be five new faces for the Penang state government’s exco line-up, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said today.
The newly sworn-in chief minister said there were five positions vacated by Lim Hock Seng, Law Heng Kiang, Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, Datuk Rashid Hasnon, and himself since he was appointed chief minister.
“So there will be at least five new state excos but the list of lineup is not ready yet,” he said.
He said the swearing-in of the new state excos is scheduled for Wednesday.
Lim was the state exco for public works and utilities, Law was the state exco for tourism development, Abdul Malik was the state exco for Islamic religious affairs and Rashid was the deputy chief minister I.
Lim, Law and Abdul Malik were dropped from the candidates’ list while Rashid has shifted to the Batu Pahat parliamentary seat in Johor.
Chow was the state exco for local government, traffic management and floor mitigation.
He has held the state exco position for two terms since Pakatan Harapan took over the state administration in 2008.
