PETALING JAYA, April 17 — 2018 has been a troublesome year for Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor and she thanked her fans for standing by her during this period.

Last week, she picked up four awards during the Anugerah MeleTOP Era 2018 (AME2018) held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil for best fashion, best television actress, best drama (Red Velvet) and also the Top Top Meletop award — the main award for a female celebrity.

“Without my fans, I do not think I would have won it. I never knew I stood a chance but this is proof that my fans are still supportive of me despite some ups and downs this year.”

“They are the ones who made it happen,” she said.

The four awards picked up by Neelofa of course drew more hate then likes but speaking to Harian Metro late yesterday, she said it was unfair for the haters to disrespect her on social media platforms.

“I know a lot of Malaysians out there are questioning my win. They are claiming that I was the host and that they set me up to win everything.

“It’s unfair for them to say that because this is my fifth time hosting the event and only the second year I’ve won a couple of awards.

“The winners of the awards are chosen based on fans vote and I for once did not expect to win it as the competition was tight,” she said.

In early February, she received backlash on social media from artists and doctors for promoting a beauty supplement recommended not only for adults but for infants as well.

Neelofa posted an Instagram Story to promote the product by giving information on the recommended dosage for infants and children.

Later that month the 29-year-old celebrity was involved in another mess after launching a tudung line in popular Kuala Lumpur nightclub Zouk.

The owner of the tudung brand Noor Nabila Mohd Noor — Neelofa’s sister — later issued an apology on Twitter and Instagram.

“We apologise, especially to ardent supporters of our brand, and to all the individuals who have been affected by the recent incident.”
