BEIJING, April 16 — The eighth annual Beijing International Film Festival (BIFF) kicked off in China’s capital yesterday with an opening ceremony that drew both domestic and international stars and filmmakers.
American actress Chloe Grace Moretz graced the red carpet, appearing alongside regional heavyweights such as Chinese actor and filmmaker Wu Jing who directed the smash hit movie “Wolf Warrior 2” in 2017, Taiwanese-American signer Wang Leehom and Hong Kong director Peter Ho-sun Chan.
The government-backed film festival will see 15 international films compete for the Tiantan Award, the festival’s top prize, decided by a six-person jury, led by Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai. The festival runs from April 15 - 22. — Reuters
