IPOH, April 11 — Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) has unanimously agreed to declare May 10 and 11 as a public holiday if the coalition forms a government after the May 9 polls.
State PH chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu urged voters to come out in full force to discharge their duties on May 9.
“For those staying outside of the state, we appreciate their sacrifices for travelling far to fulfil their responsibilities,” he said in a statement here today.
Faizal’s statement came after the Prime Minister’s Office announced May 9 as a public holiday.
The Election Commission yesterday announced the nomination date and polling day for the 14th general election as taking place on April 28 and May 9 respectively, the latter of which falls on a Wednesday.
This led to calls for May 9 to be declared a public holiday to allow voters to participate freely in the general election.
