PETALING JAYA, April 11 — US actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson thanked Malaysian fans for their support in a online video today and thrilled many by starting the video in Malay.
The minute-long video was posted ahead of the release of his new movie, Rampage, tomorrow.
“Apa khabar? I’m so excited to bring you guys Rampage set for release on Thursday all over Malaysia.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all the love and support over the years,” said the 45-year-old actor.
In Rampage, he plays a primatologist who looks after George, an albino gorilla, which later turns monstrous.
Johnson’s Malaysian fan-base is huge and three of his previous films — 2015’s Fast 7 along with 2017’s Jumanji and The Fate of the Furious – were box office hits here.
“You guys are going to love Rampage. Thank you so much and enjoy Rampage,” he said.
This was not the first time Johnson showed his love for Malaysia.
On January 2, he posted a short video on Instagram to thank fans for making Jumanji Malaysia's highest-grossing film ever, adding that his early wrestling career had also brought him to Kuala Lumpur where he “spilt a lot of blood and sweat.”
"Our roots go way back years ago as I had some of my best wrestling matches right there in Kuala Lumpur. Unforgettable times. I’m forever grateful for your love over the years.”
