LOS ANGELES, April 11 — As her joint track with Khalid hovers at the top of the charts, Normani Kordei has announced she has signed a record deal for her debut solo album.

The US singer is best known as a member of Fifth Harmony, the girl group that last month announced the start of an indefinite hiatus as its members pursue solo projects.

Among Normani's past bandmates are Camila Cabello, who left the group in late 2016 and just released her a chart-topping solo album.

It now appears Normani may be next in line, after RCA Records announced that the singer has just signed on to the new Keep Cool label and is in the studio working on her debut album.

The announcement comes at a prime moment for the singer-songwriter, who last month released her Khalid collaboration Love Lies, featured on the soundtrack for Love, Simon. The track has already been certified Gold and garnered 155 million streams worldwide since its February 14 release.

According to RCA, Love Lies represents, “sonically and stylistically,” the direction of Normani's solo music.

Normani said of her Fifth Harmony bandmates, “I’m so thankful to my girls that we created this space among ourselves to explore and branch out creatively. Fifth Harmony has always been and will always be home.” — AFP-Relaxnews
