NEW YORK, April 11 — Billabong is championing the works of two seminal US artists with a new collaboration.

The surfwear giant’s Billabong LAB arm has incorporated artwork from both Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat in its new collection, dubbed “Warhol x Basquiat x Billabong.”

The collection, which spans board shorts, swimwear, t-shirts and accessories in menswear and womenswear, features a selection of wild, colourful graffiti-esque collaborative works from the two iconic creatives.

“Warhol and Basquiat had this crazy relationship,” explains Brad Lancaster, Global VP of Creative for Billabong, in a statement. “The best part of this collection is how it brings some the world’s most inspiring and exclusive art to a collection of boardshorts and products for the kid who wouldn’t otherwise experience it.”

“Warhol x Basquiat x Billabong is a delightfully unpredictable ménage á trois of creativity, celebrating what happens when fearless minds come together,” adds Michael Dayton Hermann, Director of Licensing, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.

The series is the latest to come out of a longstanding partnership between Billabong and the non-profit organisation The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, following the duo’s first collaboration back in March 2017. The project explores the link between Warhol’s work and surf culture with the help of Billabong LAB, a division of the brand that supports artists, musicians, designers, photographers and surf icons.
