KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 — Signs of a strain have appeared in Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) ahead of GE14 after the incumbent Paya Jaras assemblymen jumped from PAS to PKR, according to Utusan Malaysia.
The Umno-owned Malay daily cited state Parti Amanah Negara chairman Izham Hashim reminding its PKR ally that Paya Jaras has been allocated to his party and not to have Mohd Khairuddin Othman defend his seat in the May 9 polls.
“Although we are going to be contesting using PKR’s logo, it does not mean Paya Jaras will be contested by a PKR representative,” Izham was quoted as saying.
In GE13, Mohd Khairuddin defeated Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Muhammad Bushro Mat Johor with a majority of 5,522 votes.
The relationship between Mohd Khairuddin and the PAS leadership has been tense since late last year after the former voiced his disagreements over three-cornered fights with PH candidates.
The former Selangor PAS information chief also believed his dismissal was because of his “friendly” approach towards the state government and he was dropped from his position after barely four months for his remarks.
Seat allocations in Selangor is still said to be ongoing while BN is expected to unveil its candidates list as early as next week.
