PARIS, April 10 — Singer Halsey takes inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet in her new video for Alone.

The US singer-songwriter has shared a cinematic clip that she directed alongside Hannah Lux Davis. As the video opens, Halsey enters a venue called Kingdom Theatre, whose marquee reveals a “Celebration of Death” is underway.

Inside, lush gothic imagery and fantastical costumes appear to channel the aesthetic of Baz Luhrmann’s film, but it is around the 1:30 mark, when she spots a winged party guest, that the visual inspiration becomes apparent.

Big Sean and Stefflon Don feature in the track, and both appear in its video.

Alone featured on Halsey’s album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom; the remix with Big Sean and Stefflon Don was released separately last month.

Later this month, the singer is launching a world tour in support of the album, starting in Australia and New Zealand and hitting Latin America, North America, Asia and the UK through September. — AFP-Relaxnews
