PUTRAJAYA, March 2 — The Immigration Department has crippled a syndicate producing false Visit Pass-Temporary Employment and the Resident Pass, and had also acted as an agent for illegal Bangladeshi workers.

Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said the activities of the syndicate were uncovered in ‘Ops Serkap’ which was conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday near the Immigration Headquarters Office in Putrajaya as well as Klang Valley.

So far, 26 people were detained in the operation, comprising 15 foreign men, three foreign women and eight locals.

“The foreign detainees are now held at the Immigration Detention Depot in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to facilitate investigations while the Malaysians have been remanded for four days,” he said in a statement here yesterday. — Bernama
