BUKIT MERTAJAM, Feb 19 — The remand on an elderly woman who was detained in the probe into the death of an Indonesian maid who was allegedly abused by her employers on Feb 11, has been extended by seven days beginning today.

The extension of the remand order was issued by Bukit Mertajam Magistrate Court’s Registrar Nor Hapipah Abdullah here after the woman’s initial remand period expired today.

Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the 60-year-old woman was detained on Feb 12 on suspicion of abusing the victim. — Bernama
