KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — MIC hopes there will be no changes to the finalised candidates list for the upcoming general election that was submitted to Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak two weeks ago.

Its president, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, said the list comprised 60 per cent of new faces.

“I hope there’ll be no changes to the candidates list and this would be in MIC’s favour,” he told a media conference in conjunction with the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting here today.

Dr Subramaniam, who is also health minister, also reaffirmed that the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat was for MIC.

The party president said people should not believe in ‘‘fake news’’ over claims that the seat would be allocated to myPPP. — Bernama
