ALOR SETAR, Feb 15 — Police have detained four siblings on suspicion of being involved in a robbery at a goldsmith shop at Jalan Kota here last Saturday.

Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Mior Farid Al Atrash Wahid said the four siblings including a woman aged between 19 and 32 were nabbed in a raid on two houses in Sungai Petani and Kulim early Tuesday morning.

Police also seized part of the stolen loot and a fake pistol believed to have been used in the robbery, he told a press conference here today.

Mior Farid Al Atrash said all the suspects were remanded for five days until Sunday and the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery.

He said in the 12.15 pm incident, two masked men wearing helmets entered the goldsmith shop before one of them smashed the glass display panels with a hammer and scooped an assortment of jewellery worth RM100,000.

“The suspects then fled the scene on a motorcycle parked behind the shop. Police managed to track down and detain all the suspects through a picture of one of them who came to the shop earlier that was taken by the shop owner,” he added. — Bernama
