SEOUL, Feb 14 — G-Dragon’s enlistment date has been confirmed as February 27.
The Big Bang star’s agency YG Entertainment announced today that he had received his draft notice.
“It’s true that he has received his draft notice. The Big Bang members had always been thinking about enlisting as soon as they receive their draft notices. As such, G-Dragon will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier on February 27,” the statement read.
The statement did not reveal an enlistment location, and according to YG, G-Dragon plans to enlist quietly without any events or press greetings.
“He plans on quietly enlisting without an official farewell event in order to prevent any chaos from occurring on scene that day. He will diligently carry out his military service,” it added.
On December 31, during Big Bang’s “Last Dance” concert, G-Dragon told fans, “Just like when winter goes, spring comes, everyone please stay healthy and don’t be sad, and we’ll be able to meet again very soon.”
When he enlists at the end of the month, G-Dragon will be the second of the five-member group to begin his military service.
The first was TOP, who is currently serving as a public service worker after being dishonourably discharged from the police due to marijuana charges.
Following G-Dragon, the next Big Bang bandmate to fulfil his national duties is Taeyang, who married Korean actress Min Hyo-rin earlier this month.
