MARANG, Feb 11 — The Terengganu state Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry office will deploy 176 enforcers to several locations statewide to ensure all traders adhere to the Price Control Scheme for the Chinese New Year.
State Rural Development, Entrepreneur, Cooperatives and Consumerism Committee chairman Nawi Mohamad said this was part of the state government’s continuous effort to protect consumers from profiteering activities by unethical traders especially during the festive season.
He said this to reporters after launching the Terengganu state-level Chinese New Year Festive Season Price Control Scheme 2018 at Pekan Wakaf Tapai here today.
A total of 13 items have been listed under the price control scheme which implementation started yesterday until Feb 21, including chicken, eggs grades A and B and white pomfret.
Nawi said traders were obliged to sell the controlled price items with a price that did not exceed the ceiling price set by the government and were required to use special pink price tags for the items to differentiate them from other products. — Bernama
