KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 ― Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) strategist Rais Hussin denounced today a claim that his party’s chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was leading an Opposition delegation to meet top American politicians.
Rais told news portal The Malaysian Insight that the reported claim from former DAP vice chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim “must be taken with a huge pinch of salt”.
“It is fake news spewed by a senile old man who is fighting for air time! We don’t need the Americans or any foreigners! We only need the Malaysian people,” Rais was quoted saying.
Local daily New Straits Times reported Tunku Abdul Aziz as saying Friday that the so-called Opposition delegation led by Dr Mahathir was scheduled to leave for the United States on February 20, aimed at getting American help to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
