MUAR, Feb 9 — A total of RM RM100 million has been allocated for the installation of rural street lights nationwide this year.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the amount today stating that the total sum of RM50 million was the government’s allocation while another RM50 million will be contributed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
“Installation of the rural street lights involving 50,000 tracts in rural areas nationwide will benefit about 2.5 million villagers.
"The lights will be ready for installation within 10 to 14 weeks," he said to the media after a Muar community event and handing over of rural street lights ceremony at Bukit Mor, Parit Jawa here today.
Also present at the event were Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Muar MP Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim.
