KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — When it comes to declaring your love for someone, the simplest gestures are sometimes the sweetest.

Really, you needn’t break a sweat arranging for a private screening of The Titanic at Los Angeles’ Staples Center a la Justin Bieber when he was dating Selena Gomez nor do you need to do a Jay Z and present your ladylove (lucky Beyonce!) with a Rolls Royce.

This place has a view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline and an innovative menu introduced by the legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa based on his unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine.

From February 9-14, Nobu’s Valentine’s Day Omakase serves up a delightful gastronomic journey that includes Chawan Mushi Cappuccino, juicy Tenderloin with Foie Gras and the Nobu Style Sushi Cup. Dessert is Sweet Moment, a strawberry Mochi cream puff that wraps up the evening of love.

Trace Restaurant @ Element Kuala Lumpur

There’s one place that will get you on cloud nine, almost. It’s the 275-metre high restaurant, Trace, located in Element Kuala Lumpur.

Diners get to enjoy a marvellous view of the cityscape and the Petronas Twin Towers while savouring a 4-course rustic Italian dinner appropriately themed That’s Amore.

The menu includes Truffle (prawn mousse with watermelon rind pickle, bisque aioli and micro cress) and Poached Halibut (halibut fish in poaching liquid with truffle pomme purée, sauté medley vegetable and salsa verde gremolata).

The other option for the main dish is Beef Cheek (sous vide beef cheek with truffle pomme purée, sauté medley vegetables and natural juice).

Available on February 14 from 7pm–10.30pm, the dinner is priced at RM388 nett per couple. With an additional RM150 nett, you can have wine.

French Feast Restaurant Wine & Bar 

The romance of Paris will be evoked by Chef Mickael Cornutrait who has prepared a 4-course Valentine’s dinner menu designed for Him and Her. 

For Her: Pan-seared Hokkaido scallops with mint and green pea cream and cheese crisp, cocoa marbled foie gras terrine with gingerbread crisps and grilled duck strip with Morello cherry sauce, roasted pistachios and honey glazed carrots, among others.

For Him: Dishes include pan-seared Hokkaido scallops, chorizo and piquillos pepper, pan-fried foie gras with fig and onion chutney and 52°C roasted duck magret with rich morel sauce and Darphin potato cake.

The dinner for February 14 is priced at RM380+ per couple.

The elegant ambience at Lafite makes a perfect backdrop for a special date.

Its six-course French fine dining menu, created for this occasion by executive chef Olivier Pistre, includes caviar Ossetra with potato ice-cream, brioche crumble, Granny Smith espuma and sorrel, Hokkaido scallops complemented by carpaccio & tartare with truffle sauce, deep-fried Cardoret oyster with walnut cream and spicy meringue with Yuzu gel.

Dessert is candied orange with Grand Marnier espuma, caramel crumble, fresh orange segment and mandarin sorbet.

If you’re looking for a cosy place to create romantic memories, dining at the hotel’s La Cucina Mediterranean Kitchen this February 14 is recommended.

Featuring a four-course set menu, diners can look forward to signature dishes that are flavourful. For a tasty start, there is Salmon Cured Beetroot teaser served with cream cheese mousse and balsamic gel as well as the Chef Special Pumpkin Soup with cheese ball, green oil and croutons.

Meat lovers will undoubtedly enjoy Sirloin Wagyu Beef Marble 7 with Lobster Roulade served with Pommes Anna and Chimichurri Sauce.

To end the gastronomic affair on a sweet note will be the Chocolate Mille-Feuille and Wild Berry Compote accompanied by two Virgin Margaritas.

The hotel’s Samplings on the Fourteenth fine dining restaurant is a lovely place for a special night like Valentine’s as it has a panoramic view of the KL skyline.

The special 3-course pre-Valentine’s Day dinner on February 13 is priced at RM98 per person. You could also pamper your soulmate with a 5-course dinner on February 14 at RM388 per couple.

The Valentine’s Day set menu will feature Salmon Carpaccio and Essence of Green Peas for starters while the main course options include Chilean Seabass, M7 Wagyu Beef Cheek and Sous Vide Lamb Rack.
