JOHOR BARU, Feb 8 — In appreciation of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s contribution to the state, an Indian community leader presented a wooden replica of a Harley-Davidson superbike to the Johor ruler here today.
The life-sized Harley-Davidson replica was personally presented to Sultan Ibrahim by special assistant to the Johor Mentri Besar, Deva Sangaran at the Istana Pasir Pelangi here on Tuesday.
Deva said the gift was specially made Sultan Ibrahim who he described as a person that cares for all Johoreans irrespective of their race or religion.
“It has been my dream to present His Majesty with a Harley-Davidson wooden replica as it is well-known that he has a personal collection and I have also been invited to join his Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) entourage for the past five years,” he told the Malay Mail when contacted today.
The replica was specially commissioned by Deva and was carved out from solid timber wood.
The size and detailing of the wooden replica is very similar to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Deva said he decided to undertake this project together with a friend from Bergamo Group that has 17 years of experience in the timber industry.
“The owner offered to undertake this project himself and he customised it as per my imagination,” he said, adding that it took six-months to complete the 500kg replica.
“I’m so glad His Majesty liked it, he was all smiles when he saw the Harley-Davidson wooden replica.
“May God bless His Majesty for his continuous and relentless effort in bringing up the lives of the people living in Johor in line with the slogan of Bangsa Johor to live in unity, peace and harmony,” he said.
