PETALING JAYA, Feb 7 — Astro’s Chinese New Year mascot Whoopee dropped in on the Malay Mail’s refurbished office at Redberry City here to mark the Year of the Dog.
Whoopee and the Astro delegation that included its communications vice-president Tammy Toh, group chief content and consumer officer Henry Tan, Chinese customer business vice-president Wong Siah Ping and award-winning film director Chiu Keng Guan were greeted and given a personal tour by Malay Mail Editor-in-Chief Datuk Wong Sai Wan.
The broadcasting company’s visit was also in conjunction with Chiu’s first Chinese New Year themed movie, Think Big Big, set for release on Valentine’s Day.
“This year, I’m presenting a very simple story with a big message. Be yourself and do not care how others look at you.
“It’s something I believe too, I celebrate my new year with a very simple meaning but in a joyous environment,” Chiu told Malay Mail during the visit.
Think Big Big is Chiu’s fifth movie to date after Ola Bola, The Journey, Great Day and WooHoo! which has amassed over RM44 million in total.
The movie focuses on Moon, a girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut. She lives a happy, carefree life working as a mascot until one day, debts force her to join a weight-loss competition that requires her to share her fitness journey on social media.
Most of the movie was filmed in Bukit Pelanduk, Kuala Lumpur and in a secondary school in Seremban.
The movie’s stars Serene Lim, Fabian Loo, Moon Yoong and Joanne Lau were also present during the visit.
