KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has launched its exclusive webfilm and TV commercial to mark the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration, reaching out to a global audience with a message of love, forgiveness and reconciliation.
Entitled, A Long Way Home, Petronas senior general manager of Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah Abdul Rahman said Petronas was delighted to kick-start 2018 with another moving and thought-provoking webfilm to celebrate Chinese New Year.
“Through these webfilms and our festive communications over the last two decades, Petronas has been able to reach out and connect with our audiences with messages that focus on universal values that all of us can relate to.
“This year, we have expanded our festive messages to reach a global audience in line with our global branding efforts. What better way to connect with our viewers then through our festive campaigns,” she said in a statement, here, today.
A Long Way Home tells the story of a young man, Seong and his father on their trip back home to celebrate the New Year with the family, during which tension rises and an argument ensues between the two.
Amid the altercation, Seong, ridden with guilt, experiences flashbacks of fond memories he shared with his father while growing up.
The story highlights the issue of generational gap, and differences of views between parents and their children. However, more often than not, these differences can be resolved by a willingness to accept new ways and embrace each other’s perspectives and views.
