KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today called for the police to act against Mat Rempits involved in illegal motorcyle races near the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).

In a posting on his official Facebook page, the Sultan described illegal racing as a meaningless activity, and a nuisance to patients, with the loud engine sounds during the night disrupting their sleep.

“Stop getting involved in this activity that has no benefit think about public peace and the patients at the hospital who need sufficient rest,” he was quoted saying by the Johor royal press office.

Sultan Ibrahim said the late Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil had also complained of having difficulties resting when the latter was receiving treatment at the hospital.

More recently, the Sultan said his daughter in-law Che’ Puan Khaleeda Bustamam also had similar complaints after the birth of the heir to the Johor throne at HSA.

“Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail and his wife could not rest well during the night because of the noise from these illegal races that happens between 12am and 3am.

“I had also experienced this when receiving treatment at the royal ward of HSA,” Sultan Ibrahim said.
