GEORGE TOWN, Jan 26 — Thrill seekers can now try out an adrenaline-pumping outdoor obstacle course right at the top of Komtar tower in The Top’s latest attraction, The Gravityz.

The RM4 million outdoor adventure platform is located on Level 65 of the tower which stands at 239m high.

“This will be the highest ropes course challenge in the world and we also have plans to introduce other attractions here such as bungee jumping by the end of this year,” said The Top operator, Only World Group (OWG) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Richard Koh at the media preview of the new attraction today.

The new attraction allows thrill seekers to be hooked up to ropes before they go through an obstacle course on a platform with an unfettered view of the whole of George Town below them.

There are three obstacles such as a zip line, a precarious bridge and high benches along the 90m-stretch of platform that participants get to go across.

The Gravityz executive director J. Hong Low, said they have ensured all safety requirements are met when installing the platform along the circumference of Komtar tower at Level 65.

“The platform can take a maximum weight of up to 600kg, roughly about six people can go out at any one time,” he said.

He said there is no age limit for participants but the height requirement is a minimum of 100cm and thrill seekers needs to put on the safety harness.

“The harness is 100 per cent safe as it is locked on the front and back so that even the participants can’t open it on their own while on the platform,” he said.

The Gravityz will only open next month and it will have special introductory prices for Penangites and those who book their tickets early.

Low said they expect about 20,000 people to try out the activities at The Gravityz by the end of this year.
