SUBANG, Jan 22 — Nightlife near Ara Damansara just got wilder as casual chic dining and leisure establishment the Barn opened its doors in Citta Mall here, the fourth restaurant in its chain in four years.
The branch was officially launched today by one of its founders Candice Lee, who told the press that the Barn aims to treat its guests and patrons with the down-to-earth warmth found in a farmer’s homestead coupled with delicious food and great service.
“Traditionally, a barn is typically an agricultural building usually situated on a farm or homestead, usually for housing livestock. So, going by that analogy, being invited to a barn is synonymous to being invited to the farmer’s own homestead,” said Lee.
Gracing the launch was local stand-up comedian Andrew Netto who horsed about, even making fun of his relatives, late grandfather, and AirAsia magnate Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.
Netto was however not kidding when he told one of the most well-known and well used introduction to a joke; “a horse walks into a bar...”, referring to the Barn’s mascot and guest of honour, former race horse Barnabas from Royal Selangor Turf Club — who stole the show.
On Fridays, live band performance is also available starting from 9pm onwards.
Like its other outlets, the Barn Citta Mall has an extensive selection on it menu with its specialty here being its selection of steaks — in particular the 1kg Tomahawk Steak to be shared by two to three people.
The restaurant also offers an adequate selection of wine ranging from Spanish wines priced at RM98 per bottle to French and Australian wine priced above RM300.
However its selection of whisky is definitely impressive with more than 30 selections available although there is nothing outstanding in the list.
Happy hour starts from noon to 9pm, with the house pouring wine starting at around RM10 a glass.
The Barn Citta Mall is open daily from 11am to 1am.
