KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 — Malaysia has dropped one rung to 175 in Fifa’s world football ranking, the worst ranking yet for the Harimau Malaya squad.
Kuwait moved up to 174 after collecting 100 points while Malaysia collected 99 points.
With the new ranking, Malaysia dropped to 36 in Asia and 8 in South-east Asia behind Singapore (173), Indonesia (160) and Thailand (129).
In a statement, Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said he took full responsibility for the drop in Malaysia’s world ranking.
Reigning World Cup champion, Germany remain at number one with 1,602 points, followed by Brazil in second spot with 1,483 points while Portugal is in third spot with 1,358 points. — Bernama
