KAJANG, Jan 6 — Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be released in June 11, his wife and the coalition’s president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said today.
“In accordance to the law, God willing he will be released on June 11,” she said at PH’s women’s wing convention at Dewan Seri Chempaka here today.
Dr Wan Azizah said today marked 1,062 days since Anwar was imprisoned.
“He is not here with us physically, however, he is fighting along with us in spirit,” she said.
Anwar was jailed for five years in February 2015 after being convicted of sodomy for the second time.
On Thursday, Anwar had urged his allies in PH to prioritise the spirit of consensus in their discussions, amid heated public debate over the pact’s choice of prime minister candidate.
