PUTRAJAYA, Nov 15 — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has confirmed that all Malaysians residing in Harare, Zimbabwe are currently safe amidst the increasingly tense political situation in the capital.
Wisma Putra in a statement toda said that all Malaysians who may already be travelling in Zimbabwe were advised to remain indoors and to avoid crowded places as well as night travel.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring closely the political and military developments there through the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare,” Wisma Putra added.
Wisma Putra said Malaysian citizens who may already be travelling in Zimbabwe are requested to contact either the Embassy at +263 433 4413 / 4414, +263 77 500 1441 or through email at [email protected]
Malaysian citizens can also contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya at 03-8887 4587 (during office hours), 03 -8887 4570 (after office hours) or through email at [email protected] to inform of their locations, the statement added.
The ministry also advised all Malaysians intending to travel to Zimbabwe in the immediate future to defer non-essential travel until further notice.
