GEORGE TOWN, Oct 31 — A farmers’ market that brings together organic farmers and artisanal products will be held at Straits Quay here on November 19.
The Down To Earth Market will serve as a platform to showcase local farms and produce.
Tanjung Bungah assemblyman Teh Yee Cheu, who announced the event, said it will also include workshops and cooking demonstrations using local produce.
“This market supports local product and local farmers and it also promotes sustainability and responsibility to the environment,” he said.
The Down To Earth Market, to be held from 2pm to 7pm, will also feature health foods and demonstrations on the making of enzymes, handmade soaps and other artisanal products.
“Everyone is welcome to visit the event and if any local shops or individuals want to become a vendor or organise a workshop in the event, they can still contact us to be part of the event,” he said.
The Down to Earth Market is jointly organised by Teh’s service centre, Real Food Cafe, Man Man Market and Persatuan Komuniti Ros Merah Pulau Pinang.
It is co-organised by Straits Quay and supported by the Penang Green Council.
