GEORGE TOWN, Oct 12 ― Penang DAPSY urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya for alleged abuse of power.
Bukit Mertajam DAPSY chief Joshua Woo Sze Meng said Dr Hilmi should be arrested for acting on behalf of an unlicensed dentist.
“He should expect to be remanded for five days by the MACC at any time from today onwards,” he said.
He said Dr Hilmi has admitted to submitting an appeal letter on behalf of Nur Farahanis Ezatty Adli, to the Oral Health division director.
He accused the deputy minister of abusing his position, which was an offence under Section 28 of the MACC Act 2009.
He pointed out that Penang state executive councillor Phee Boon Poh was previously arrested under this section because of the appeal letters he had issued.
