LOS ANGELES, May 18 — Yuna has done the country proud again, by being the first Malaysian to be nominated for a BET award.
The annual awards show by the Black Entertainment Television network celebrates African Americans and other minorities in various fields of entertainment.
According to ABC News, Yuna has been nominated for the BET Centric Award.
The award was formerly awarded to neo soul and/or traditional R&B artists. It has, however, been used to recognise specific songs since 2013.

Yuna was nominated for the song Crush, her duet with Usher.
She’s facing off strong contenders in the same category, namely: Fantasia (Sleeping with the One I Love); Kehlani (Distraction); Mary J. Blige (Thick of It); Solange (Cranes in the Sky) and Syd (All About Me).
The 2017 BET Awards airs on June 25, 2017 in the US.
