Paulo Bento as Harimau coach? That’s mere speculation, FAM sec-gen says

KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 ― Rumours that former Greece club, Olympiakos FC coach Paulo Jorge Gomes Bento would become the National coach is just speculation said the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin in a statement today said the candidate for the job of National head coach would be announced soon.

Hamidin said an announcement would be made after receiving the consent of FAM president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim once all documents are finalised.

“I wish to reiterate that Paulo Jorge Gomes Bento to become the National coach is just speculation that has gone viral on social media. I will announce the actual name of the coach who will become the National team coach, from Portugal, in three or four days,” he said.

Local media reports had claimed that since Paulo Bento had coached the Portugal National team from 2010-2014, he was the candidate FAM had chosen to become the National coach, replacing Datuk Ong Kim Swee. ― Bernama
