TOKYO, April 8 — Starbucks Japan is taking the notion of dessert drink to a whole new level with the launch of a cherry pie Frappuccino that replaces the plastic domed lid with and pie crust.
The photo says it all: Cherry pie is liquefied into a frozen beverage made with a blended vanilla-flavored cream base, pie crumbles and cherry compote topped with whip cream.
The showstopping feature? The crispy, flaky pie lid, which breaks down to add a crunchy element to the drink.
The release coincides with cherry blossom season which is currently in full swing in Japan, with trees exploding in happy, pretty blossoms.
The limited edition American Cherry Pie Frappuccino is the latest innovative dessert drink from the team at Starbucks Japan.
Other flavors include Fruits-On-Top, Cantaloupe Melon & Cream, Hojicha with Earl Grey Jelly, Chocolate Brownie Matcha Green Tea, Tiramisu and Baked Apple.
