PARIS, March 28 — Move over Balenciaga blanket bag. Let Ikea show you how to do normcore properly.
Introducing the reimagined Frakta bag, which you might otherwise know as the big, blue (or yellow) Ikea bag that you use to carry all your laundry to your mum’s with.
Well, thanks to hip curator Colette, your trusty RM2, 71-litre polypropylene workhorse is getting a makeover with a sprinkling of Parisian chic on top.
The bag features the French retailer’s signature blue dots on one side, and polka dots on the other.
It is part of an Ikea x Colette collaboration that’s happening at its Rue Saint Honoré boutique until May 6.
Apart from the bag, which we suspect will be an instant sell-out, the pop-up (yes, didn’t we say normcore dreams?) will also offer other reimagined products and limited-edition prints by Colette creative director Sarah Andelman.
But if you can’t make it to Paris, the reimagined Frakta bag will be in Ikea stores in 2018 (along with the other pieces from the pop-up).
The queue starts behind us.
