KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained higher across-the-board at mid-morning today on persistent buying in key heavyweights such as Maybank, Sime Darby and Petronas Chemicals.
At 11.08am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,751.25, 6.05 points better from last Friday’s close of 1,745.2.
Earlier, the index opened 1.13 points weaker at 1,744.07.
On the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners 480 to 338, while 351 counters unchanged, 542 untraded and 16 others suspended.
Turnover was high at 2.68 billion shares worth RM1.01 billion.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose eight sen to RM8.98, Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.35 and Petronas Chemicals was two sen better at RM7.45.
As for actives, PUC Founder increased four sen to 15.5 sen, Dataprep rose 14 sen to 57.5 sen and MQ Technology was flat at 5.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index improved 41.68 points to 12,383.02, the FBMT100 Index increased 39.26 points to 12,035.56 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 30.19 points stronger at 12,757.43.
The FBM 70 gained 38.08 points to 14,403.92 and the FBM Ace improved 76.14 points to 5,607.3.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index inched up 14.38 points to 3,278.19, the Finance Index soared 97.79 points to 15,837.78 and the Plantation Index added 52.29 points to 8,213.9. — Bernama
