LOS ANGELES, March 19 — The Force was strong then and it still is now as Mark Hamill shares a throwback picture of the very first image of Luke Skywalker
Hamill took to Twitter to share this first photo of himself in costume on the first day of filming the original Star Wars movie back in 1976, in the Tunisian desert that served as the set for Tatooine.
He captioned the tweet: “Taken in Tunisia early morning Day #1 waiting for my 1st shot (emerging from home for robot auction). Perhaps the very 1st.”
Hamill is now preparing for his debut as an older Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi following an earlier cameo in The Force Awakens.
In a separate response to a fan on how he thought the movie would fare, the actor tweeted: “Crew was kind but thought [Star Wars] was ‘rubbish’ – I kept telling them ‘We’re on a winner’!”
