SINGAPORE, March 17 — One artist has taken Game of Thrones (GoT) to the next level.
Russian artist Salavat Fidai has come up with sculptures based on the HBO series. His medium: Pencils.
The sculptor has created 16 micro-sculptures, carvings that rest on the tips of fragile graphite pencils. The carving designs are based on the sigils of the major GoT houses — House Stark, House Targaryen, House Baratheon are all represented — as well as the Hand Of The King pin, White Walkers, dragons, and two swords.
The sculptures can be seen at Game of Thrones — A Pencil Microsculpture Exhibition by Salavat Fidai, and exhibition on from April 22 to June 4 at K+ Curatorial Space, Scotts Square. The exhibition is free and organised by HBO Asia and K+.
Fidai is a leader in the field of miniature sculptures, creating intricate and detailed art on the tips of pencils with diameters between 2mm to 5mm. The father of three children was born and raised in a small village at the foot of the Ural Mountains in Russia, he began this unique form of sculpting in 2014. As well as carving miniature sculptures, he also creates miniature paintings on seeds and matchboxes. — TODAY
