Flood situation in Johor improves

JOHOR BAHRU, March 5 — The flood situation in Johor is improving with only 111 flood victims (25 families) at the evacuation centres at 7 pm today, from 126 people (26 families) this morning.

State Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the flood victims are at four evacuation centres, namely Balairaya Pogoh Tengah, Kompleks Penghulu Mukim Pogoh, Balairaya Batu Badak and Sekolah Kebangsaan Spang Loi.

The evacuation centre at Sekolah Agama Mukim Jabi was closed today, he said in a statement.

The flood victims were evacuated in stages since March 2. They are from Kampung Pogoh Tengah, Kampung Pogoh, Kampung Seberang Batu Badak and Kampung Spai Loi which became flooded following continuous heavy rain.

The Felda Redong road to Felda Selancar is closed to all vehicles since March 3 due to a land slide. — Bernama
