NEW DELHI, Feb 22 — Microsoft has launched a new version of Skype in India reports The Verge.

Designed especially for the Indian market, the Skype Lite app has a download size of 13MB and has been created for improved performance on 2G or unstable connections, making it more reliable in many parts of the country.

Skype Lite also uses less battery power, runs smoothly even on old Android phones, and offers a mode to reduce data usage in video calls.

The app also works with SMS and is available in nine languages.

Skype Lite will also integrate Aadhaar, the 12-digit national identification number system widely used in India, so users can securely identify themselves. — AFP-Relaxnews
