Student killed after skidding and crashing car into tree

SEREMBAN, Dec 3 ― A 20-year-old student was killed when the Perodua Kancil he was driving skidded and smashed into a tree in Jalan Utama, Taman Akasia here today.  

Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Department senior officer II Md Munawir Md Yusoff said the youth, identified as A. Edwards Naezareen Dass, died at the scene.

“On the other hand, a male passenger of the car has sustained minor injury as he was trapped inside. 

“He was taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here for treatment,” he said in a statement here today. 

Md Munawir said the department received the distress call from members of the public at 10.37 am before a team from Seremban 2 Fire Station, comprising seven officers and personnel, were deployed to the scene.

The team took five minutes to take out the victims, he added. 

Meanwhile, Seremban police chief ACP Thiew Hok Poh said initial investigations revealed that the victims were travelling from their house in Nilai to Seremban town when the incident occurred. 

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. ― Bernama
