KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Police will be calling up Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to record a statement in connection with their probe over the contents in his open letter directed at the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said the investigation was being carried out under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.

“Police have received several reports regarding the matter. I wish to advise the public to be careful when making any comments about royalty and the institution of the Malay rulers,” he told Bernama today.

In the open letter uploaded on his Facebook account, Syed Saddiq, who is the head of newly-formed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s youth wing, among others had criticised the decree by the Sultan on Thursday forbidding street demonstrations in the state. — Bernama
