Suspect who stabbed future brother-in-law to death nabbed

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 19 — Police have arrested the main suspect involved in the murder of his future brother-in-law this afternoon, said Terengganu CID chief ACP Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah.

He said the 29-year-old suspect who was in hiding for the past four days was nabbed while walking along Jalan Jeram, Manir here.

“We believe he was out in search of food after hiding at two different places which were an unoccupied house and a field near the village,” he said in a press conference here, today.

In an incident which occurred at the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) car park at about 11am last Sunday, the suspect was believed to have turned aggressive and stabbed the victim, Mohd Shukri Husin, 34, to death.

The victim, a Kelantan Road Transport Department staff, had gone to the religious department with several of his family members to check on the marital status of his future brother-in-law.

When it was revealed that the suspect was already married, a brawl erupted between the two men, leading to the stabbing incident. — Bernama
