SYDNEY, Oct 4 ― Qantas and Airbnb have struck a partnership that will allow Qantas Frequent Flyer members to earn points when they book their Airbnb accommodation through the airline’s website.

The partnership marks the first time Airbnb has worked with an airline in this way.

For every dollar they spend on any of Airbnb’s accommodations around the world, loyalty members will also earn one Qantas Point.

“The way that people around the world plan, book and experience travel is changing rapidly with the digital revolution,” said Qantas CEO Alan Joyce.

“We know many of our customers are just as likely to arrange an Airbnb as they are to book a hotel, and we wanted to recognise and reward them for that.

Added Airbnb CEO and co-founder: “People around the world are experiencing a different way to travel through Airbnb. We’re focused on connecting people with the hospitality of locals, welcoming travellers into their communities so they can truly belong anywhere. There are just a handful of global brands who understand that travel is now changing for the better. Qantas is one of those brands.”

To promote the partnership, Qantas and Airbnb have launched a contest that includes four return Business class tickets to San Francisco. The winner and three guests will be treated to five nights’ Airbnb accommodation worth US$5,000 (RM20,684), and US$4,000 (RM16,547) spending money. ― AFP-Relaxnews
