LOS ANGELES, Aug 31 — James Franco turned to a John Steinbeck novel — as well as Selena Gomez, Nat Wolff and Robert Duvall — for his next project, adapting In Dubious Battle for a September world premiere in Venice.
How do you like them apples? The latest from James Franco, In Dubious Battle, has the director co-starring with Nat Wolff as two fruit pickers who put their lives on the line for the good of their fellow workers on the farm and nationwide.
Franco plays Mac McLeod, an activist who has recruited Wolff’s Jim Nolan to his cause, winning fair wages for hard-working but ruthlessly exploited Californian fruit pickers.
Joining them are the likes of Selena Gomez, Robert Duvall, Vincent D’Onofrio, Bryan Cranston, Ed Harris, Ashley Greene, Zach Braff, Sam Shepard and John Hutcherson, ensuring real cross-generation appeal with a clutch of high-profile accolades between them.
